Discography @ The Time
‘Michael Schenker Group
(released August 21}
‘MSG’
(released September 21)

     Michael Schenker has always been an artist who never made false compromises.
Even when he was the guitarist in the world in famous bands such as The Scorpions or UFO, his unique style soon became the trademark sound at the time for each of these bands.
By the end of the seventies, the typical confines of being in a band began to limit Michael Schenker more and more. So he took the obvious step to quit UFO and to form – The Michael Schenker Group.
Together with Billy Sheehan (bass), Denny Carmassi (drums), along with vocalist Gary Barden the guys recorded their freshman album tilted simple, ‘MSG’.  Which still thirty-two years later it is considered by several music insiders as one of Schenker’s strongest album to date.
However, for the following tour, the line-up had already been changed, and few fans today would not regard this later personnel as in fact the most perfect: Schenker and Barden were join by Chris Glen (bass), Paul Raymond (keyboards)   and last but certainly not least
Cozy Powe11 (29 December 1947 – 5 April 1998).  It was Cozy Powell’s drumming that crafted and stabled the perforation –and this Rockpalast concert remains of his outstanding performances before his death in 1998.
     Filmed on January 24th, 1981 at the Markeince, The Markeince is the market hall of Hamburg is a meeting place for a wide range of popular culture. Its central location, excellent technical equipment, the infrastructure of the house as well as a comprehensive understanding of the program make the event center at the monastery wall for artists of all genres attractive.
Considering the concert was in 1981and filmed using the ratio of 4:3 I was amazed by how well it looked.  The audio was re-mastered from standard stereo to 5.1 Dolby Digital.  This actually is a miss print.  The concert was in 2.0 stereo.  At times during “Natural Thing” Cozy Powell’s drums drowned out Gary’s vocals.  Instead of Michael performing a solo the band played the instrumental, “Into The Arena”.  As many fans will state this is the best MSG line-up and a must buy!!!!
