BIOGRAPHY:
In early 1990 vocalist Steve Lee and guitarist Leo Leoni formed the band Gotthard. The band was based out of Lugano in the Italian part of Switzerland and Bern in the German part. Founded and supported by Krokus bassist Chris Von Rohr. For the past thirty-three years Gotthard has released thirteen studio albums and are the biggest musical export of Switzerland. Since releasing their self-titled album through BMG Music Group on March 9th, 1992, Gotthard has become the biggest music export since June 30th, 1980 with the release of Krokus’s ‘Metal Rendez-vous’.
On the 25th anniversary of the release of the first Gotthard album, Leo Leoni wanted to pay tribute to Gotthard and formed CoreLeoni. In a manner of speaking CoreLeoni is a Gotthard tribute band. CoreLeoni has released three albums. They are, ‘The Greatest Hits Vol I’ released on February 23, 2018, ‘II’ released September 27, 2019 and ‘III’ released May 13, 2022. The albums consisted of songs Gotthard had recorded along with a few songs that they had written however, for one reason or another never used.
‘Alive’ was recorded sometime in March of last year while the band was on their “Rock Generation Tour 2022”. The album titled ‘Alive’ will be released on October 27th 2023. It is the first live album the band has released. The set list Leo opted for ‘Alive’ consisted of a set list of fourteen CoreLeoni and Steve Lee Gotthard classics. One of the first things I noticed was how much new vocalist Eugent Bushpepa sounded like original Gotthard vocalist Steve Lee. I don’t know where Leo found this cat but Holy Shit he can sing his ass off. I will say of the Gotthard songs CoreLeoni performed that night are better than Gotthard’s however, they are equally as good.

I will night say of the Gotthard songs CoreLeoni performed that night are better than Gotthard’s however, they are equally as good. In fact, CoreLeoni does such an amazing job that there are times when I had to remind myself that this wasn’t Gotthard.
There are literally a handful of live albums I own. I just never really cared for live releases much unless; it was an acoustic, bootleg or something. The reason being is with today’s technology they can go in the studio and add or subtract stuff. If I am going tom listen to something live then I will be watching it. With that being said, as a huge fan I did really like this release. If you are a fan of Gotthard or CoreLeoni then I think you would really like this ad should add it to our collection. Every track is a highlight track.
